In 1970, Ben Suarez started a fledgling Direct Marketing company Suarez Industries Inc. (SII) from his home. Despite many failures and limited success, the company was able to become completely profitable by 1973.
Currently headquartered in North Canton, Ohio, SII is able to handle all types of direct response marketing because of its unique setup. Every department needed to run a successful marketing company is housed in the corporate headquarters. From the creative process, database analysis and media to lettershop, print shop and fulfillment center, each department is able to communicate quickly with others, streamlining operations of the marketing company. This allows SII complete control of a promotion from concept to product fulfillment.
Today, SII is a leader in direct marketing and currently markets diverse products around the world. From jewelry, collectible coins and household products to health supplements, SII continues to lead the way through product innovation and multi-channel marketing. Suarez Industries Inc. continues to prosper thanks to the “American Dream” of founder and President Ben Suarez.
As a University of Akron graduate, Ben Suarez wanted to give something back to the university community and to the region’s business community as well. With a dedication ceremony on November 17, 2008, The University of Akron celebrated the opening of the Benjamin and Nancy Suarez Applied Marketing Research Laboratories at its location on the fifth floor of U of A’s Polsky Building. This one-of-a-kind marketing research, teaching and experiential learning facility features three laboratories and a large classroom to provide students and faculty members the tools to convert knowledge into useful intelligence for the business community.
